She has been a keen student of Iyengar Yoga since she started her studies 32 years ago. Louie has regularly studied with B.K.S Iyengar and his family in Pune, India as well as during their intensives in North America. She serves on the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada's Professional Development Committee as a trainer of teachers. Louie shares her love of yoga by teaching seriously and with humour. She is supportive and challenging of students' own intelligent exploration of and participation in the subject.
Cheryl's enthusiasm in guiding students to explore connections, and cultivate awareness of body and breath is revealed in her energetic teaching. Cheryl encourages students to apply the qualities of alignment and focus experienced in the practice to other activities they engage in, be it a walk in the park, a hike in the forest, playing on turf/snow/ice, or a stroll down Main Street. Cheryl is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor and has been a student of Iyengar yoga for over 10 years. She studies with senior local and international teachers.
Morgan has been a practitioner of Iyengar yoga for many years and a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher since 2011. She is continually learning on her yoga path and regularly attends classes and workshops with many senior Iyengar teachers, including the 2014 Intensive with Geeta Iyengar in Pune, India. Morgan believes yoga brings a freedom and openness to the body and to life, which enhances every aspect of our lived experience. She enjoys working with students to help them find that freedom and openness, and to ensure that yoga is accessible to all.
Patricia began her studies of Iyengar yoga in the mid 1980's and has lived and studied with teachers across Canada. She regularly attends workshops with senior Canadian and international teachers as well as the Iyengar family, including classes at the RIMYI in Pune, India. Patricia has served on the Professional Development Committee of Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada for many years and is currently on the Executive. She teaches from a depth of training and experience, encouraging students to explore the many gifts yoga has to offer and to observe the changes that it brings.
Corrie is an accomplished yoga teacher who has been practicing yoga since the 1970s. She decided to share the years of knowledge she had gained, and started teaching Yoga more than 20 years ago. Corrie is an encouraging and motivating teacher who has expertise in working with pupils of every level to gain optimum achievement in every pose.
Alisen's passion for mindful discovery through movement brought her to the Iyengar method. Working as a corrective conditioning coach in the sport and fitness industry she continually draws from the foundation of mobility, stability, strength and alignment as a powerful tool to move in a non harming way.
Linda Shevloff has been a teacher of Iyengar yoga since the early 1980s, first in Victoria, BC, and then afterwards in Hong Kong where she lived for over fifteen years and where she developed the first Iyengar yoga school in South East Asia. She returned to Vancouver in 2014. She now teaches a weekly class at The Yoga Space and assists in the Intermediate Teacher Training program there. Linda also serves on the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada's Professional Development Committee as an assessor of Introductory and Intermediate teachers nationally. Since 1987 she has regularly travelled to Pune to study with Guruji BKS Iyengar and his family and she continues to do so. She has a love of teaching this subject.
Roberta has always had a keen interest in the body and how it functions — as an instrument for artistic expression and as a tool to sharpen the mind through the practice of yoga. She has been a student of Iyengar Yoga — which she began practicing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil under the guidance of Katia Dacosta — for over 15 years. In Vancouver, Roberta continues to study and practice yoga with Louie Ettling, and regularly participates in courses and workshops with several internationally established teachers such as Gabriella Giubilaro, Corine Biria, and Kevin Gardiner.
Roberta's teaching style is grounded, energetic, and kind. Sensitive to individual needs and challenges, her teaching combines precise alignment and attention to detail with harmony and grace. She believes that yoga is a path of discipline, balance and transformation.
Luci discovered Iyengar yoga in Berkeley in the late 1990s. A decade later in Vancouver, she decided to teach and now holds an Intermediate Junior I certificate. Luci's teaching is perceptive, articulate, rigorous, and always geared to the individual. She encourages students to challenge themselves and to appreciate the precision and depth of Iyengar yoga. In August 2014, she traveled to Pune, India, to study with the Iyengar family. Originally from Hawaii, Luci is a professional writer, editor, and Lonely Planet author. Terri has studied with many gifted, senior Iyengar teachers; travelling as far away as the RIMYI in Pune India and as close as The Yoga Space in Vancouver, BC. Certified at the intermediate J1 level.

Meghan Goodman is a yoga instructor and professional dance artist. She began practicing yoga in 1998 and has been teaching since 2006. Seeking more information on how to work with a wider range of students, Meghan began her studies of Iyengar yoga in 2008, and with the guidance of Louie Ettling, completed the Intro 2 teaching certification in 2013. For Meghan, Iyengar yoga has become the steady path to finding stability and space in the body, the antidote to an physically demanding and busy lifestyle, and a method for moving deeper in the practice with intelligence and care. After taking her first Iyengar yoga class in 1988 with Wende Davis, Gerie knew yoga would become an integral part of her life. Under Wende's mentorship she completed her teacher training apprenticeship. Ever a student, she draws her inspiration from work of BKS Iyengar, his daughter Geeta and son Prashant, and their ceaseless commitment to the study of the art, science, and universal culture of Yoga.
Gerie's teaching is direct and joyful as she attends to individual students' needs. She creates a spirited and supportive class environment where the student can discover for themselves how our Yoga practice has the potential to enrich our daily lives. Gerie supports her practice by taking classes regularly with Louie Ettling and attending workshops with national and international senior teachers. She's made three trips to study with the Iyengar family in Pune, India.
Gerie has served on the board of the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association (Vancouver) since 2001. She is one of the teacher trainers in The Yoga Space Teacher Training Program and in this capacity serves on the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada's Professional Development Committee.
Jason Topal has been an enthusiastic practitioner of Iyengar Yoga since 2009 and became a certified teacher in 2015. In addition to having attended workshops with Jawahar Bangera, Devki Desai and Chris Saudek, Jason is a regular student of Louie Ettling in Vancouver and studies annually with Gabriella Giubilaro. He brings humour and precision to both his practice and his teaching.
Sharmeen, a keen student of yoga for 15 years, first walked into an Iyengar class 6 years ago: she knew she had come home. The practical, accessible to all, precise, and disciplined approach that Iyengar yoga offers resonates deeply with who she is. Her passion for Iyengar yoga, and her warmth and caring, is clearly reflected in her teaching. She is grateful for the opportunity to share the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar and her greatest reward is to observe the students blossom in their poses and feel the wonderful effects of yoga in their daily lives. Sharmeen has done her teacher training under Louie Ettling and continues to study with her. To further deepen her practice she regularly attends workshops with local and visiting international teachers.
Michelle Hagenson began yoga in 1998 in what happened to be an Iyengar class and was immediately drawn to the practice by the quiet alertness brought to her mind and body. She began teaching in 2006 on Haida Gwaii and in 2014 moved back to Vancouver and currently teaches throughout the Lower Mainland. She holds an Intermediate Junior I certificate studying under Louie Ettling. She is a committed life long learner as both a student and teacher of yoga, studying with international and national senior teachers as well travelling to Pune, India on multiple occasions to study with the Iyengars. Her love and dedication of the subject is transmitted through her teaching.
Lara was a member of the national amateur boxing team and competed in Canada, the USA and Europe. She is now completing her Introductory Iyengar certification with Louie Ettling. Lara believes that no matter what physical challenges a student faces, alignment of the body is a worthwhile and approachable task. It can be fun and benefits every component of one's life. In order to assist students to reap these benefits, Lara teaches with thoughtfulness, humour and encouragement.
